The Undergraduate courses offered by the School are accredited with the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC). These courses are available by full-time or part-time study on the Joondalup Campus. The Bachelor of Arts is also available online*.

Choosing a Career in Psychology

This is designed to draw your attention to the many possibilities available in applying psychology in the workforce. Students undertaking a Major in Psychology at Edith Cowan University can focus their studies on a future career goal by selectively choosing either a double major, or a supporting major a minor field of study.

The Minor areas of study that complement a Psychology Major and the most appropriate to different career pathways. Minors are grouped according to the Faculty to which they belong.

As from 2007 a degree at Edith Cowan University consists of 24 units or 360 credit points. A Major in Psychology requires 16 units, 4 at each level of 1st, 2nd and 8 at 3rd year. The Minor area of study consists of 6 units in an area other than psychology. These units can be chosen with a definite career pathway in mind.

The Double Majors are available by full-time or part-time study and units must be completed in the sequential order as presented.  The double majors usually consist of 24 units, 12 in each major, others have 16 units of Psychology and 8 units of another major.

The remaining 2 units are elective units which are chosen from any area (providing prerequisites are met). Alternatively, instead of choosing a minor and elective units, where available, a student may select a supporting major. A supporting major consists of 8 units in an area other than psychology. There is a range of options available to students in choosing a minor field of study.

Major in Psychology

The Psychology Major is available by full-time or part-time study and units must be completed in the sequential order as presented. The Psychology Major can be completed as a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) or Bachelor of Science (Psychology). To enrol as a science major students need at least one science unit in their entry qualifications.

Double Majors in Psychology

The School has nine double major courses in Psychology. These are:

Selection of a Minor

Choosing six units from an established program allows you to focus on an area of interest that complements the Psychology major.

Students undertaking the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) program may choose a Minor from any Faculty.

Students undertaking the Bachelor of Science (Psychology) program must choose a Minor from the Faculty of Computing, Health and Science.

Selection of a Supporting Major

Students undertaking the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) program may choose a Supporting Major from any Faculty.

Students undertaking the Bachelor of Science (Psychology) program must choose a Supporting Major from the Faculty of Computing, Health and Science.

Minor in Psychology

Psychology is also offered as a minor. The minor has been designed to offer students a choice of units that can complement a variety of Major areas of study.
